Sam has been a practicing accountant since his graduation from San Jose State, in 1966, where he earned a B.S. in Accounting and Finance.

In 1988, Sam started the E. Samuel Wheeler firm. Sam's solid leadership, accounting acumen, and professional practices have established his firm as the leading accounting and advising firm in Tuolumne County.

In addition to leading the firm, Sam is currently involved, and has been involved in numerous organizations, including:

  • Member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants, since 1969

  • Past-President and Director of United Way of Tuolumne and Calaveras Counties

  • Past-President and Director of the Sonora 49er Rotary Club

  • Director of Mother Lode Bank, Sonora, CA

  • Member of the Board of Directors of the Franklin Select Real Estate Income Fund and Franklin Advantage Real Estate Income Fund.

Sam's previous accounting experience includes:

  • Treasurer, Secretary and Member of the Board of Governors and member of the Executive Committee of the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts (NAREIT), 1982-89.

  • President, CEO, and member of the Board of Trustees of California Real Estate Investment Trust, 1981-1988(NYSE/PSE).

  • President and CEO of Adams Capital Management Co., San Francisco, CA 1970-1987.

  • Senior Staff Accountant, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Certified Public Accountants, 1967-1970.

Sam is one of the leaders in Rotary Youth Exchange and is passionate about advancing opportunities for youth through exchanges and fostering international experiences.
